Cycling with Musubibito to Yoko Seto and Kuchi Kumano by e-bike

An original hands-on program where you can experience the charm of nature and World Heritage at the same time.
Under the guidance of "Musubibito" Yoko Seto, who knew the charm of the land, we will tour the rich nature of Kuchikumano by e-bike.
As you walk along the Kumano Kodo and walk around the ruins of the prince, which has been recognized as a World Heritage Site, you can get acquainted with nature, experience history, and encounter the “story” that people have spun.

What is Musubibito?

Considering urban areas and tourist centers around Japan as "Omoya" and beautiful areas that are not yet known as "Hanare", "Grand Mercure Wakayama Minabe Resort & Spa" is a hotel located in an area that can be said to be "Hanare". "#Hanare Journey" is a style of travel where you can enjoy the scenery rich in nature, the traditions and culture rooted in the area, and the interaction with local people. As one of the ways to enjoy this #Hanare Journey, we propose an original experience program "Musubibito". In this program, people who are familiar with the region and continue to preserve tradition and culture are referred to as "Musubibito" and play a role in connecting customers with their communities. In Grand Mercure in Japan, programs are being developed at hotels such as the source hunter in Beppu Bay and the salt craftsman in Awajishima.

Program contents

Yoko Seto, President of KMICHI

Enchanted by the scenery and cycling environment of Kamitomida, he has been operating a cycle station "KMICH" since 2020. We are actively working to spread the cycling course "Kumaichi" that goes around Kumano.
In addition, we have introduced a rental of mountain bikes with electric assists (e-bikes) for those who are not confident in their physical strength and those who want women to enjoy cycling casually.

I am guided by myself so that a wide range of people can enjoy the sense of accomplishment aiming for the goal while sweating and the sense of sprint unique to cycling. By giving lectures not only on the course explanation but also on how to use the E-bike and the traffic rules of bicycles, we will also pay attention to enjoying cycling safely. Musubibito is a popular person loved by cyclists who visit Kuchi Kumano with a bright and friendly personality.

What is Kamitonda?

Kamitotacho is located in the southwestern part of Wakayama Prefecture.
Located next to Shirahama Town and Tanabe City, the Tonda River flows in the center of the town, making it a place rich in nature.
Kumano Kodo is a junction that is divided into "Nakaheji" and "Oheji", and when you leave the seaside from Tanabe and enter "Nakaheji", you enter the mountain, so it is called "Kuchikumano". Was.

Program contents 1. Cycling the original course of "Grand Mercure Wakayama Minabe" by e-bike

On this cycling tour, you will be asked to use a mountain bike and E-bike with electric assist. It is also attractive that even beginners cycling or those who do not usually exercise much can participate with peace of mind. Not only course explanation, but also operation methods and traffic manners will be taught firmly before the tour, so even beginners can start without anxiety.

This time, it is a 20km course specially designed by Mr. Seto for "Grand Mercure Wakayama Minabe". There is an up and down of up to about 53m, but since it is an E-bike, you can easily get over the slope. When you get used to the E-bike, you can run at about 15 to 18 km / h, so you can refresh your mind and body by sharpening your five senses such as superb views and wind.

Program contents 2. Learn the world heritage "Kumano Kodo" from a professional guide

Kumano Kodo, a World Heritage Site, is a pilgrimage route for pilgrims aiming for Kumano Miyama. This time, we will go around three world heritage princes in the middle of the cycling course. It is a greedy content that allows you to experience the exhilaration of running through rich nature and the sense of fulfillment that touches the ancient history at once.
In this program, we will visit three World Heritage-listed princes.

The people of the "Kou Kumano Kamitonda Guide Association" will guide you. A professional guide who has studied Kumano Kodo for many years, is still familiar with the literature, and conducts field surveys, will explain the history and background of each prince trace in an easy-to-understand manner.

In front of the last visit Prince Inaba, there is a "water scaling area". It was believed that by bathing in water, removing the impurities of the body and purifying the body, all the sins of the past would disappear. At present, there is a place where you can experience scaling with your feet. After experiencing a part of the sacred practice of "water waking", take a break with Mr. Seto and his guides on seasonal sweets. The real pleasure of this tour is the time to talk while feeling the magnificent nature and history up close.

Program contents 3. Meet the superb view of "Kamitomida" called Kuchi Kumano
In the middle of cycling, you can encounter a superb view of Kamitomida called Kuchi Kumano.
■Superb view point 1 diving bridge
A diving bridge over the Tonda River where clear water flows smoothly. You will be healed by a gentle landscape like a picture-like landscape woven by the glittering water surface in response to the sunlight with a view of the green mountains spreading behind you.
