Introducing a buffet restaurantWakayama Prefecture, which is long vertically, has a very different climate in Kihoku and Kinan. Kihoku belongs to the so-called Setouchi Climate Zone, which has long sunshine hours and low precipitation4. In contrast, Kinan is generally warm and has a lot of rainfall, making use of it to grow citrus fruits. In the whole prefecture, the number of farmers tends to decrease, but the number of full-time farmers is maintained. In particular, 62% of farmers are engaged in fruits (national average is 8.9%), and mandarin oranges (44%), plums (16%) and persimmons (14%) are thriving. All of these are ranked first in Japan in terms of production volume. In particular, plums account for 65% of the national production, and the total cost of plums is the largest in Japan.
