Introduction of Buffet RestaurantWakayama Prefecture, which is long vertically, has a very different climate in Kihoku and Kinan. Kihoku belongs to the so-called Setouchi Climate Zone, which has long sunshine hours and low precipitation4. By contrast, Kinan is generally warm and has a lot of rainfall, and citrus cultivation utilizing it is thriving. The number of farmers in the prefecture as a whole tends to decrease, but the number of full-time farmers is maintained. In particular, 62% of farmers engaged in fruit (the national average is 8.9%), and oranges (44%), plums (16%), persimmons (14%) are thriving. All of these are ranked number one in Japan in terms of production volume. In particular, plums account for 65% of national production, and the total expenditure of plum dried is the highest in Japan.
